Alcove Storage with Floating Shelves - Morden SM4
We’ve recently completed some bespoke alcove cabinets with floating shelves above. Two units were constructed either side of a central chimney breast in the living room of a home in Morden.
Design and Planning
During the initial consultation with the homeowners, we discussed the cabinet design and shelving heights. Our clients wanted to use the left-hand side of the chimney breast for their television and media providers units and cables. Taking that into consideration, we proposed one less shelf on that side, and we incorporated hidden cable access to the cabinet to keep cabling neat and tidy. In regards to construction, we agreed to split the cabinets into one single and one double unit to each side of the chimney breast. In addition to the new joinery work, the homeowners asked us to include the painting of all the woodwork as part of the project.
In-situ carpentry work
All our work was constructed on-site, including the shaker style doors. The homeowners had cleared their living room in advance, so we had plenty of space to work.
Clean as we go
Our professional power tools connect to our hoover, which helps reduce the sawdust, and we always have a clean up at the end of each day.
Timescales
We completed all the work, (including the Matt White painted finish), in a week.
